- Connect the camera(s) to the open PoE ports on the back of the XDI recorder. If using an external PoE switch, connect the camera(s) to an open PoE port on the switch and connect the switch to the EXT port on the back of the XDI recorder.
- Connect a PC/ laptop with the Costar Utility loaded to the EXT port on the back of the XDI recorder. If the EXT port is occupied connect to one of the PoE ports on the back of the XDI recorder, or to an open port on the external PoE switch connected to the EXT port.
- Open the Costar Utility software. It will auto scan the network and find the CBI5S4IW camera(s). If there is a DHCP server on the network, the camera will acquire an address automatically.
- If there is not a DHCP server on the network, the camera will be found under the link-to-local address starting with 169.
- Either way, double click on the camera to open the webpage. It will prompt to login. Use the default username admin and password admin.
- Enter a new password and confirm it. It is recommended to use a password that is at least 8 characters in length using at least one uppercase, lowercase, number, and special character/symbol.
- Ensure the password is applied successfully.
- If there is a DHCP server on the network and the camera was assigned an IP address, skip this step, and go to step 7. Select Configuration at the top, select Device from the tree on the left and select Local Network. Turn off DHCP and assign a IP scheme to match the VIN network scheme of the XDI recorder. Click Apply.
- Select Configuration at the top, Device from the tree on the left, and Date and Time. Set the appropriate Time Zone. Turn off Daylight Savings Time if not used. This must match the recorder. Set the Device Time either by Current PC Time or Set Manually. Either way the time must be within 5 minutes of the recorder for recorder and Alarm triggers to function properly.
- Once set, exit the webpage. Repeat steps 5 – 10 for all the CBI5S4IW cameras. The camera(s) are now ready to register to the XDI recorder.
