How to change the IP address on a Windows machine?

Pre-Requisite

PC with Administrator rights

Solution: 

This is very important to know when trying to connect to IP cameras for the first time or doing some troubleshooting on your customer’s network.  You will need to have admin rights on the pc in order to change the ip address.

1. Go to the bottom left corner of the screen where the time is.  Locate the network Icon, right-click and select Open Network and Sharing Center.
   
   
2. Locate and click on Change adapter settings on the left side.
   
3. Right-click on the adapter that needs to be configured and select Properties.
   
4. Double click on the option for Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
   
5. Select Use the following IP address radio button and then fill in accordingly. Our default IP address for the cameras are 192.168.0.129. If you were trying to log onto a Costar IP camera you would change the IP address of your PC to 192.168.0.x.  x=1-128, 130-254.  It cannot be the same as the cameras.
   
6. Click OK then OK again to get out of the network property setting. The settings will not take effect until you leave out of all the property windows.
