Pre-requisite
- CR4020XDI, CR8020XDI, CR1620XDI, or CR3220XDI with Firmware version 7.0.3 that has been through the initial setup
- Arecont Contera Multi-Image Sensor Camera
- Laptop with the Costar Utility Loaded
Solution:

- Plug the camera into one of the POE ports on the back of the recorder.
- Connect the laptop to the camera side of the recorder (POE Port or Video-in EXT port).
- Run the Costar Utility to give an IP address to the camera. By default the camera side network IP Address is set to 10.10.254.254 (See step 13 for the IP address scheme of the camera side network).
- Make sure the laptop is in the same logical network as the camera.
- Open a web browser and navigate to the IP Address of the camera.
- Set the admin password of the camera and click Submit.
- At the recorder right-click anywhere and select Camera Registration.
- Go to the top right and select Bit Rate Control.
- Adjust the last two channels to "0".
- Adjust the 4 channels the camera is going on to 16 Mbps and then click Apply.
- At the top left in Camera Registration click Scan>Third Party.
- Protocol select AV Costar. Leave the Mode default.
- Click Advanced Setup and verify that the Type is set to Manual. Verify the IP address is in the same logical network as the cameras (but not the same exact IP address of the camera). By default, the IP Address should be 10.10.254.254. Click OK if you had to make a change. If you did not make a change click Cancel.
- Click Scan.
- Once the recorder finds the cameras, they will populate in the list to the left behind the scan window.
- Click Stop and Close once the recorder finds the cameras.
- Right-click on one of the cameras in the list and select Add Camera.
- Enter "admin" for User and the password you created in step 6 in the Password field and then click OK.
- Repeat Steps 14 until all cameras are added.
- Click Apply at the bottom.
- Click OK.
- Click OK.
- Please allow a minute or two for the Diagnosis Processing to finish.
