Configuring COSTAR XDi’s for use with XApCom IP
Step One: Set up Record and Schedule for the ATM Camera
Navigate to: Record
Select Schedule on the left side.
Step Two: Set a new Schedule for the ATM camera
We will use CAM 1 as the ATM camera in our example and add it to the new Schedule. We will then remove CAM1 from the existing Schedule by deselecting it from “Channels”. Click + to add the new schedule.
When creating the new Schedule select it as time lapse and event under “Mode”. After deselecting CAM1 from the existing schedule your screen shot should now look like this.
Then click “Settings” and program as shown. Select the Profile 3 for Video Profile.
Step Three: Setting Recording Frame Rate
Navigate to Camera.
Then select Stream on the left side to enter the programming of the camera streams.
At the top select the ATM camera that will be displaying the Text-In for Camera Channels. Towards the bottom of the page is the Record Video Profile Section. Locate Profile 3 under this section and change the Video Profile to custom and change the IPS to 5.
Then click OK.
Step Four: Text-In Programming
Navigate to Events
Select Text-In on the left side
Click the Setup box to the right of No.1
In the Port Pull Down Menu Select “LAN1” and in Text-In Product Select “XApCom IP”. This Defaults your screen as shown and preselects your fields including the Port# to 7112. Under Transaction Start Check the Any Character box then click the first OK button.
Next Select the “Actions” option and another window will appear. By default, LAN1’s IP Text-In is set to record CAM 1 as shown. If the ATM Camera were different than CAM 1 you would select it and change it here. Under “Alarm-Out” check if “Beep” is activated. If so unselect it as shown in the screen shot below.
Clearing the Beep Alarm will prevent the DVR from beeping every time a Text Transaction comes in. Some programmers use this as a test tool for Events. These Events could be Text-In, Motion Detection or Alarm Inputs as all Event Screens on Costar DVR’s have this ability.
Click the “OK” button at the bottom of the screen to save all programming.
XApCom IP should now be enabled on your DVR. Perform an ATM transaction and Search for it.
Note: **Costar DVR’s support XApCom IP for each camera input. A 16ch DVR will support up to 16 ATM’s via 16ea LAN 1 through LAN 16 selections.**
Trouble Shooting
Reasons for not capturing transactions:
1. ATM ID doesn’t exactly match between XApCom and the DVR.
2. Firewall settings in the ATM are not allowing transaction data to get through to the DVR.
To confirm the Ethernet messages are getting through to the DVR, load a program called Ethereal or Wire Shark onto a laptop. Connect the laptop and the DVR through a HUB and perform an ATM transaction. Trace the Ethernet traffic to the DVR to ensure that the messaging is getting through to the DVR. EtherReal is available on the internet or at CTSC-ESP’s website. See Appendix A for an example of an Ethereal ATM transaction trace.
