Issue:
Programming an RTSP Stream into a CVI2MV2.
Pre-Requisite:
- A Laptop or PC with the Matrix Client software. Download the client software here.
- A CVI2MV2, CVI4MV2, or CVI8XM.
- The RTSP stream URL for the device you are trying to display. The RTSP stream URL is unique to the make and model of the device. Please consult the device's manufacturer for the RTSP Stream URL.
Solution:
- Make sure the Matrix and camera/recorder are powered on and connected to the network.
- Open the Matrix Client software on a laptop/PC connected to the same network as the devices in step 1.
- If you do not know the IP address click IP Search. If you know the IP address, skip ahead to step 5.
- The IP search will find Matrix.
- Double click on the matrix. The IP Search will close and the IP Address of the Matrix will be in the IP Address field. Or enter the IP Address of the Matrix if you know it in the IP Address field.
- Enter the User Name and Password of the Matrix. By default, it is admin:12345 and then click LOGIN.
- Click Cameras under the Configuration list.
- Click RTSP on the left side.
- Click Add at the bottom.
- Double click on the Video box to edit the RTSP stream.
- Insert the RTSP stream of the device you are trying to display the video from.
- Click Save on the left side.
- An Information box will appear. Click OK.
- Click Preview at the top.
- On the left side. Click, drag, and drop the newly added device into one of the preview windows to test the image.
If you do not see an image in the display preview, please test the RTSP stream with an RTSP viewer. VLC is the test tool that I use.
