Issue:
You need to get to settings that you cannot see through the remote setup.
Pre-Requisite:
- PC with the latest version of Starnet loaded and open.
- Recorder connected to Starnet.
- If remote, the VNC ports needed to be opened in the firewall.
- Older Costar- Port 5900
- Newer Costar- Port 6900
Solution:
- In Starnet, locate the recorder on the left side under All Devices.
- Right-Click on the recorder and select Remote Setup.
- When the Remote Setup window opens, click on the Network icon.
- On the General tab check the box for Use DirectNDC (Older Recorders may have a tab called VNC).
- Click on the Password box. A new window will open.
- Click on the Password box and enter a strong password.
- Click on the Confirm box and enter the same exact password as the above step.
- And then Click OK.
- The password box will close. Click Apply and then OK.
- Click Close at the bottom of the Remote Setup window.
- In Starnet, locate the recorder on the left side under All Devices.
- Right-Click on the recorder and select Remote Desktop.
- Enter the credentials that you created in step 5 and click OK.
You should be logged into the recorder like you were in front of the recorder. The VNC software is a lightweight software and will not transmit video feeds. If you see a black box where a camera this tells us the camera is connected.
