FAQ: Turning RTSP on in the Starnet Recorder

Issue: 

We need some cameras displayed on a PVM and would like to use the RTSP stream from the recorder.  

Solution:

1. Move the mouse to the bottom right corner and select Setup.
   
2. Enter the credentials of the recorder and click OK.
   
3. Select Network.
   
4. Click on RTSP on the left side.
   
5. Click the box next to Use RTSP to turn the RTSP on and click Apply.
   
6. Click OK at the bottom.
7. Click on  System.
    
8. Click User on the left.
   
9. Click + Group to create a new group.
   
10. Name group RTSP and click OK.
    
11. Click OK again.
    
12. Click + User.
    
13. Name the user rtsp and click OK.
    
14. Fill in the following information:
    
    
    • Password= Costar#1
    • Confirm= Costar#1
    • Email= rtsp@email.com
15. Click the box next to Use RTSP/HTTP.
    
16. Click the newly populated Password box.  A new window will open. Enter the following:
    
    
    • Password= Costar#1
    • Confirm= Costar#1
17. Click OK.
18. Click OK again.
    
19. Click Yes on the warning box.
    
20. Click Apply and then OK.
    
    
    

21. Access the RTSP stream using the following RTSP format.

    
    
    
    

    Note: You can also specify the individual stream of a channel by adding &streamID=2 (2 = the secondary stream).  e.g... rtsp://admin:password@10.0.152.35:554/trackID=1&streamID=2
