How to add a CDI2010KB network keyboard to an StarNET XDi NVR using the network

Solution

Configure the CDI2010KB network keyboard using the INIT Search Software utility.

1. Download and run the INIT utility from costarvideo.com 
   
   
2. Verify the keyboard is connected to the same network as the PC running the INIT utility.
   
   The INIT utility will locate the keyboard on the network
   1. right-click on the discovered keyboard and select Remote Setup.
      
      
      
      
      
   2. Under System > General you can give the keyboard a name as well as set an admin and user passwords (Optional).
      
      
      Note: Password (max. four digits)
      
      
   3. Under Network > IP Address configure the permanent IP address the keyboard will be assigned. 
      
      
      
      
      
   4. Select Device > General and change the Setup Type: to Advanced.
      
      
      
      
   5. Next, navigate to Device > Setup and select Digital Video Recorder.
      Click Add
      
      
      
      
      
   6.  Look over the options and configure to the match the recorders configuration.  If adding more than one recorder make sure to cycle up the ID by one for each unit as well as create a custom Name.
      
      Required in order to connect.
      - Enter the IP address of the recorder
      - Enter the user credentials for a user on the XDi recorder to allow a connection
      
      
      
      
      
   7. Verify the recorder is listed then select OK to save the configuration.  
      You can always go back to look over the other optional configuration options.
      
      
      
      
      
   8. You can edit individual cameras to specify if they are a Fixed or PTZ Camera.
      
      
      
      
      
   9. To test communication between the keyboard and the recorder, on the keyboard select the main monitor number and then click the Display button to cycle through the recorders displays.
      
      Example: 1 > MON > Display  
      
      
      Note: LCD should show M001. 
      
      Verify the recorders display is switching between the different layouts when the display button is pressed.
      
      
      
   10. To select an individual camera to gain PTZ control, press the camera number and then the CAM button.  The main display will go full screen on the individual camera.  You should be able to use the joystick for control if the camera has PTZ functionality.
       
       Example: 1 > CAM
       
       
       Note: The LCD should now show M001 C001.
       
       To change to another camera, just press the next number and CAM button again.
       
       To get back to the multi-layout live display press the Display button.
